Marbella is located on the shores of the Mediterranean, between Malaga and the Strait of Gibraltar, and on the slopes of the Sierra Blanca. Its municipal area covers an area of 117 km², crossed by the toll road and toll highway called the Mediterranean, main accesses to the municipality.
Marbella is a small city with little traffic, having your own car allows you to see the most important parts of Marbella in a single day. Although the Costa del Sol has many amusement parks for children, we do not recommend visiting them if you are going to spend just one day in Marbella, since you need all day to visit an amusement park and you would miss the most cultural parts of Marbella.
Our day starts in Puerto Banús ?? a famous marina in Marbella where the yachts of the rich and famous are moored, encouraging the curious to walk slowly to admire the ostentation and glamor. Puerto Banús is not only a yacht marina, it is also the center of fashion where you can find high quality boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Versace and Dior, and the most famous shopping center of the Costa del Sol, El Corte English ..
Our touristic guide of Marbella recommends that you then go to the Old Town of Marbella. Parking is more easily available in the main underground parking in the Parque de la Alameda, between the Old Town and the Paseo Marítimo.
As you leave the parking lot you will find yourself in front of the famous Parque de la Alameda, with a beautiful fountain and its exotic plants and trees. It's a small park, so it's easy to take a quick walk to see everything as you head towards the pedestrian zone of the old part of the city. There you will see charming cobblestone streets and many boutiques.
The touristic guide of Marbella now recommends you to go back to the parking lot to go to the beach. Cross the main road again as well as the Parque de la Alameda. From here you can see the beach, take the pedestrian promenade, Avenida del Mar, which has fabulous statues created by Salvador Dalí. Once on the beach you will see the main promenade of Marbella. Put yourself facing the sea and turn right, you will pass by many shops, kiosks and restaurants where you can go back to relax and have an ice cream with the children. If time permits, it's the perfect time to take off your shoes and enjoy some of the water.
In summer, this promenade and these beaches are always full of people, which contributes to the good atmosphere. If you want to dine here in the summer, it is better to arrive early or book.
